I totally agree with your assessment. Automating processes is not *always* the best starting point. As you have pointed out, in some cases you need to improve the process in order to automate it. In some cases I advocate taking the improvement before automation path, especially if it&#039;s tied to an overall corporate strategic objective. However, BPA/BPM is often driven by IT, and it is in these common cases that I find automation before improvement yields the tangible results that IT has come to expect.

BPA always makes a great discussion. ; )
